There’s something especially fun about photographing a family in their home on a regular day—no fancy setups, no pressure, just kids being kids and parents doing what they always do. This Lake Village in-home session in Daybreak, South Jordan was exactly that: playful, busy, and full of those everyday moments that tell the real story of life with little boys.

A Home Full of Play, Personality, and Big Energy
The minute I walked in, these boys were ready.Myles, age three, talked a mile a minute—telling stories, showing off toys, running circles around his brother. Blake, not quite two, followed with the cutest copycat energy. He danced, sang, and did his best to keep up with every move Myles made.
Their dynamic was loud, silly, close, and very real. If you’ve ever had toddlers close in age, you know exactly what I mean.
We started with Magna-Tiles and wooden trains scattered across the floor—tower building, tower destroying, sharing, not sharing, and then doing it all over again. Simple toys like these are perfect for in-home sessions because they instantly show what everyday life looks like right now.

Slower Moments With Mom and Dad
Once the boys burned off some energy, everyone settled into the living room to read books together. They snuggled in, pointed to pictures, and leaned into their parents in that soft, squishy toddler way.
The pace slowed down. Everyone breathed a little deeper. It was sweet without being staged. Then came one of my favorite parts of “This Is Us” sessions: the everyday routines parents don’t realize are worth photographing.
Dad helped Myles get dressed. Mom helped Blake with his clothes.
These tiny moments happen every single day, but parents rarely see themselves in them. Capturing them feels honest and meaningful without trying too hard.

Wrapping Up a Warm, Real Morning
Before they bundled up to head out as a family, we ended with one more book on the sofa. The boys were wiggly, giggly, and soaking up the last bit of downtime before the day picked up again.
Nothing was forced. Nothing was overly planned. It all unfolded naturally—which is exactly what makes in-home sessions feel so real.

Why Daybreak In-Home Sessions Feel So Natural
Daybreak homes are bright, comfortable, and easy for kids to settle into—which is why they’re perfect for lifestyle photography. When everyone’s relaxed, the photos look like their real everyday life… because they are.
This session was a great example of how much meaning you can capture in the little moments—playing, reading, getting dressed, and simply doing life together.
