What if family photos didn’t feel posed or staged — but instead felt like home? That’s exactly what I set out to capture with the Child family during their in-home session in South Jordan.
A Morning Together in South Jordan
When I walked into their home, it was clear how much life had been lived within those walls. The kitchen table where games and family stories had been shared. The living room glowing with Christmas lights. Even the front porch — a backdrop to years of everyday comings and goings. This session wasn’t about perfect poses. It was about holding onto a place that had been the heart of their family.
Everyday Moments That Matter Most
We kicked things off right at the kitchen table. That’s where the Child family loves to gather, laugh, and compete over board games. I told them to just be themselves, and that’s exactly what they did. Playful, silly, real. Those little interactions — the side glances, the bursts of laughter — are what make these sessions feel alive.
Holiday Lights and Snuggles
From there, we wandered into the living room. Stockings hung, tree glowing, kids snuggled up. I guided gently but let their natural rhythm lead. One-on-one time with parents. Little moments of connection that felt so genuine. This is the part I love most about in-home sessions: you get to relax into the comfort of your own space.
Saying Goodbye on the Porch
We ended outside on the front porch — the spot that had quietly witnessed so much family life. School mornings, after-work hugs, neighborhood hellos. It felt like the perfect way to close the chapter of this home while celebrating all the memories it held.
Why I Love In-Home Sessions
Sessions like this remind me why I do what I do. They’re not about creating staged perfection. They’re about documenting your family exactly as you are, in the spaces that matter most. Because one day, it’s the little details — the games, the lights, the everyday chaos — that you’ll want to remember.
