WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING OUR SESSION?
Our session will be easy going and relaxed. We will follow the session plan that we created during our consultation while staying flexible and moving at your family's pace. We will spend time capturing moments with your entire family, break into smaller groupings and make sure to capture details of each individual child. We will take breaks as needed. More than anything we will have fun together!
HOW CAN I BEST PREPARE MY HOUSE?
The very best way to prepare your house is to simplify any unnecessary clutter. Don't worry about whether your house is clean so much as whether it is picked up. Look at countertops, nightstands and surfaces. I think it is easiest to grab a laundry basket and pile in the things that aren't necessary or necessarily pretty. A good question to ask is, "Does this add to our story?" If not, put it away. During our session, if I see anything in the frame that doesn't add to the picture, I will quickly move it. More than anything, DON'T STRESS! I will help you in each setting to make sure it is picture ready.
WHAT IF MY KIDS ARE TIRED OR STRUGGLING?
I want to put your mind at ease! I completely understand how challenging family pictures can be. Trying to get littles to hold still, look at a camera and smile can be straight up stressful! Here is the good news-- our session is not going to be anything like that! Our time will be spent doing things that your family loves in the place that you love best. It will be easy going and relaxed. If your kids get tired and need a break, we will take a break or pivot to a different activity. I understand how kids can be! This will be a no-pressure and playful experience.
WHAT TIME OF DAY IS GENERALLY BEST FOR IN-HOME SESSIONS?
Generally speaking, mid to late morning is the ideal time to do a session in-home. Starting around 10am will offer the best lighting conditions.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY GALLERY? WHEN WILL MY ALBUM COME?
You will receive your gallery within 3 weeks of our session date. Your album will come within 3-4 weeks after your gallery delivery.
WHAT SHOULD MY FAMILY WEAR?
There are two different ways that you can approach outfits for your session and each is wonderful! It really just comes down to what you want for the feeling of the final pictures. The first option is to choose coordinated (ideally neutral in tone) outfits. Families who do this end up with a more styled feel to their gallery. The second option is to keep it more authentic. Let your kids choose their favorite outfit. Messy hair is welcome! Families who do this end up with a more authentic, moment-in-time feeling to their gallery. Sometimes clothing choices represent who your child is in this stage and it is special to document those details.
WHAT AREAS OF MY HOUSE SHOULD WE USE?
Each house is different and each family uses their home in a unique way. That being said, there are some basic spaces in most homes that are wonderful to use for this style of session. Master bedrooms, children's bedrooms, kitchens, toy rooms and family rooms are great places to start. We can also spend time in your backyard or on a front porch. Once we make our session plan, we will have an idea of what areas of your home we will use.
